Relive 8-bit arcade action
Ninja Warriors is a throwback to the early days of arcade action.
The game does not really explain much of the story or why you are tasked with defeating other ninjas in the game. Ninja Warriors’ translation is one of the most laughable parts of the game because it makes little sense and reads more like a quick translation.
Ninja Warriors’ graphics are very old school. Taking 8-bit graphics and applying a slightly updated design with brighter colors, Ninja Warriors is not the most detailed game, but has a lot of old charm. The game does not show off a lot in the one level demo available, but special attacks add a lot of color in the attacks.
Controls in Ninja Warriors are performed with on-screen buttons. The problem is that while the attack and various skill buttons work well, actual movement control is unresponsive. It is difficult to actually move in the desired direction, and most of the time your character does not follow the direction you press. It is slightly frustrating.
Even with the annoying control scheme, Ninja Warriors is actually fun to play when it works well. It has an over-the-top cartoon style that works well with the game. Unfortunately, the one level demo does not allow you to experience much of the actual game.
Ninja Warriors is a decently fun game, but the one level demo lacks variety.
